RE: Please read this important message regarding the current bushfire situation.
Gosford Public School is located in a 'Bushfire Prone' area which means we can be impacted by bushfires. The Rural Fire Service and DoE will provide advice to schools who need to cease operations tomorrow due to the catastrophic fire rating. Gosford Public School is expecting to be operational tomorrow, however this situation may change pending updated advice from the RFS.
Families and students should download and install the RFS - Fires Near Me NSW app or visit the website RFS Fires Near Me and make decisions accordingly before travelling to school tomorrow 12 November 2019.
The school will communicate with our school community via our school app, Facebook page and website. Please make sure you have installed the school app and the Facebook app on your phones and enable notifications to ensure you receive any updates and important messages.
All staff have completed online training and we have emergency management procedures in place for students and staff. In the event of an emergency, our evacuation point will be determined by the direction the fire is moving. Our identified evacuation points are Central Coast Leagues Club, Gosford Showground, Gosford RSL club or the Entertainment Grounds, pending advice from the RFS and emergency services.
If we are advised to 'shelter in place' we will shelter in the designated classrooms in 'F' block.
It is important that you are connected to the school app SZ App and Facebook for updates.
Parents can also check the status of whether schools are operational through the School Safety website. Please also ensure the school has your current emergency contact details. Thank you for your support with this situation.
